Warrant Squad Arrests Auto Theft Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest Tuesday of John Powers on an Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle warrant obtained by the County Police, Auto Theft Unit on May 23, 2012. According to the warrant, on December 3, 2011 in the 9800 block of Piscataway Road, Clinton, Maryland, Powers was observed operating an unregistered motorcycle.  Subsequent Investigations by the Police revealed the motorcycle had been reported stolen.

Deputies investigating Powers’ whereabouts were led to an address in the 7100 block of Moore’s Road in Brandywine, MD. Upon initial approach, they observed a motorcycle in the garage with its engine running. When Deputies announced their presence, the engine shut off and all movement inside the garage ceased. Shortly after, Powers surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Prince George’s County Correctional Center where he was later released on a $10,000.00 bond.  County Police were notified of the arrest.

Powers is also charged with the Removing and Obliterating of a Manufacture’s Serial Number and Theft: $1,000.00 to under $10,000.00.
