Warrant Division Arrests Attempted 2nd Degree Murder Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest Thursday of Lionel Newsome on an arrest warrant for Attempted Second Degree Murder obtained by the County Police, Criminal Investigation Division (CID) detectives on October 26, 2012.


According to the warrant, on October 18, 2012, Newsome allegedly stabbed a male victim with a knife following a verbal altercation with the victim’s friend at a gas station in the 6300 block of Marlboro Pike in District Heights.

Deputies located Newsome at an address in the 6800 block of Kipling Parkway in District Heights, where they located Newsome hiding in a downstairs bedroom. Newsome was taken into custody and transported to CID.

Newsome is also charged with First Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Possessing a Dangerous Weapon with the Intent to Injure.
