Warrant Division Arrests 1st Degree Attempted Murder Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest last Thursday of Lonell Bowen, on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder obtained by the County Police (PGPD) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) on December 31, 2012.

According to the warrant, on December 29th, Bowen attended a dance in the 3800 block of Penn Belt Place in Forestville, MD where he and an associate engaged in an argument that turned physical, over a missing coat. Bowen is alleged to have retrieved a handgun, which he fired, striking three victims before fleeing the party.

Deputies investigating Bowen’s whereabouts observed him at a location in the 2700 block of Lorring Drive in Forestville, MD. When Deputies made their approach, Bowen and another male fled on foot. A brief chase ensued resulting in the two individuals being stopped. Bowen was positively identified and taken into custody.

The second person, identified as Anthony Ross was found to have three outstanding warrants; two for Failure to Appear – Trespassing on Private Property and Controlled Dangerous Substance Possession of Marijuana and one warrant for Trespassing on Posted Property. He was taken into custody; both he and Bowen were transported to CID detectives.

Bowen is also charged with two additional counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, three counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, three counts of First Degree Assault, Firearm use during a Felonious crime, and Handgun on Person.
