Warrant Deputies arrest Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest Thursday of  Leopold Rankine on an arrest warrant for  two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder obtained by County Police.

According to the warrant, on July 16, 2010, Rankine approached a vehicle in the 5600 block of Kennedy Street, Riverdale, MD, produced a knife and began stabbing his wife, who was one of the two occupants in the vehicle. The warrant further states that Rankine stabbed the other passenger when he attempted to intervene and fled the scene.

Deputies investigating Rankine’s whereabouts were led to the 2900 Block of Lakebrook Circle in Baltimore, MD, where they located and apprehended him without incident.

Rankine is being held at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections and is also charged with an additional count of Attempted First Degree Murder and two counts of First Degree Assault and Second Degree Assault.
