2009 Warrant Served/Rapist Captured in Pennsylvania

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division’s Cold Case Team reported the arrest of Omar Martinez-Cruz on a 2009 arrest warrant for Second Degree Rape that was obtained by the County Police Criminal Investigations Division (CID) on June 3rd of that year.

According to warrant, Martinez-Cruz raped a minor female approximately nine times between March 2009 and April 2009 at a residence in Upper Marlboro. Martinez-Cruz was reported to have fled to El Salvador before the crime was reported to the Police.  

Working with previous information, Deputies investigating Martinez-Cruz’s whereabouts learned that he was back in the United States.  After locating the suspect in Pennsylvania members of the Cold Case Warrant Team and the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Martinez-Cruz on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at a business location in Chambersburg, PA. He was positively identified and taken into custody without incident.

Martinez-Cruz was transported to the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks where he awaits extradition to Prince George’s County, MD. He is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Fourth Degree Sex Offense.
