1st Degree Murder Suspects Arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Anthony Carel Wood of Ft. Washington, Md., on two arrest warrants for Attempted First Degree Murder and Assault Second Degree that were both obtained by County Police on June 28 and July 8, 2014.

According to the Attempted Murder warrant, Wood is alleged to have assaulted a female victim at a residence in the 8000 block of Stonesboro Lane in Ft. Washington, Md., by punching, kicking, and biting her while holding a knife to her throat. The warrant further states that during the altercation, Wood cut off all of her clothes and strangled her with her bra, until she passed out. Wood is also alleged to have stood over the victim, dousing her with gasoline as she regained consciousness, and lighting matches that he threw at her but  which went out before they reached the victim, who was able to escape.

Deputies investigating Wood’s whereabouts located him at a residence in the 1700 block of Brightseat Rd. in Landover, Md., where he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Prince George’s County Police Criminal Investigation Division for processing.  

Wood is also charged with Unauthorized Removal of Property, and Malicious Destruction of Property.
