Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report
Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
   Armed Robbery Suspect Extradited


Sheriff’s deputies extradited John Newson to Prince George’s County, MD on June 10, 2016 from the Hazelton Federal Correction Institution in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia. Newson, who is from Glenn Dale, MD, was wanted on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery issued by the District Court of Prince George's County on May 14, 2015.

According to the warrant, on May 07, 2015, in the 7400 block of Annapolis Road in Hyattsville, MD, at a local gas station, Newson allegedly approached a man employed at the gas station, pointed a handgun at him and ordered him to open the cash registers and lay down on the floor. In fear for his life, the victim removed approximately $500.00 from the registers and gave Newson an unknown number of lottery tickets, after which he fled.

Newson is also charged with Robbery, First and Second Degree Assault, Firearm Use/Felony Violent Crime, Handgun on Person, Handgun in Vehicle and Theft less than $1000.

Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Steven Wright of Oxon Hill, MD, on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery obtained by the County Police on May 6, 2016.

According to the warrant, on May 04, 2015, in the 500 block of Wilson Bridge Drive in Oxon Hill, MD, Wright and four other suspects called to have a pizza delivered. According to the warrant, Wright allegedly placed the order planning to rob the delivery person. The warrant further states that when the delivery man arrived, Wright is alleged to have pointed a gun at him, demanding his property and money, including the pizza. The suspects fled the scene.

Upon receipt of the warrant, deputies made several attempts to locate Wright, including leaving their contact information with a family member who advised Wright to turn himself in. Wright arranged to meet with deputies and was taken in to custody without incident.  He was transported to the Upper Marlboro Department of Corrections for processing.


Wright is also charged with Robbery, First and Second Degree Assault, and Theft less than $1000.
