First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Kingsley Okafor of Lanham MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by County Police on October 21, 2016.
According to the warrant, October 9, 2016, in the 6000 block of Springhill Terrace in Suitland, MD, Okafor was alleged to have violently attacked a male visitor at his residence. During the attack, Okafor allegedly hit the male victim in the head with an unknown object and struck him repeatedly in the face. The warrant also states that the victim indicated that as he was leaving the house he noticed that Okafor was holding a gun. The warrant further states that Okafor and the victim were longtime acquaintances and that the victim said he did not understand why Okafor assaulted him.
On November 23, 2016, Deputies investigating the warrant determined that Okafor could be located in the 6000 block of Cherrywood Lane in Greenbelt, MD. Deputies went to the location, arrested Okafor without incident and transported him to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (DOC) for processing.
Okafor is also charged with Assault Second Degree.
Second Degree Arson Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Sommer Simms of Fort Washington, MD on an arrest warrant for Second Degree Arson obtained by County Police Department on November 17, 2016.
According to the warrant, on November 13, 2016, in the 3300 block of Tinkers Branch Way in Fort Washington, MD, Simms allegedly set fire to a male’s vehicle causing approximately $2000.00 of property damage to his car. The warrant also states that the victim received a text message from Simms stating “Your house next”.
Upon receipt of the warrant on November 23, 2016, Deputies’ investigation determined that Simms could be located in the 9000 Underwood Drive where she was taken into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Correctional facility in Upper Marlboro for processing.
Simms is are also charged with Second Degree Arson, Malicious Burning First Degree and Malicious Destruction of property of at least 1,000.00 dollars.
