Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
 
First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kirk Lyles of Temple Hills, MD, on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by the County Police Department on February 1, 2017.

According to the warrant, on August 1, 2016, in the 2300 block of Iverson Street in Temple Hills, MD, Lyles allegedly chased and struck a male victim multiple times throughout his body with an edged object. The warrant further states that video footage later revealed Lyles chasing the man with a knife in his hand, after which Lyles fled scene.

On March 3, 2017, after thorough investigation, Sheriff’s deputies located Lyles exiting a convenience store in the 2800 block of Iverson Street in Temple Hills where he was identified, taken into custody without incident and transported to the Department of Corrections for processing.

Lyles is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

Sex Offense Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kelman Mendez-Veliz of Beltsville, MD on a warrant for First Degree Sex Offense that was obtained by the County Police on February 15, 2017.

According to the warrant, On February 14, 2016, at an address in Upper Marlboro, MD, Mendez-Veliz engaged in sexual contact with a minor.

On February 6, 2017, Warrant/Fugitive Division Deputies located Mendez-Veliz in the 11600 block of Cedar Lane in Beltsville, MD, where he was arrested and taken into custody without incident. Mendez-Veliz was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Mendez- Veliz is also charged with Second, Third and Fourth Degree Sex Offense, and Second Degree Assault.
