Deputies Arrest 1st Degree Assault Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Intervention Division (DVID) has reported the arrest of Dwayne Fountain on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault, obtained by County Police Detectives on April 26, 2014.

According to the warrant, on April 21^st, Fountain entered a towing company in the 7200 block of Landover Rd, in Landover MD inquiring about his vehicle that had been previously impounded. When employees were assisting other customers, Fountain entered
the storage area of the towing lot and used a spare key to retrieve the impounded vehicle and drove it out of the tow lot without making payment. When a store employee attempted to stop Fountain, he threatened the employee at gunpoint before fleeing. The warrant further states, on the following day members of the District Heights Police Department located Fountain’s vehicle parked in the 6600 block of District Heights Pkwy, bearing stolen license plates.

Deputies investigating Fountain’s whereabouts located him on Monday, April 28^th at the residence where the vehicle was found. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections. 

Fountain is also charged with Theft: Less than $100.00, Theft: Less than $1,000, Handgun in Vehicle, and Handgun on Person.

First Degree Assault Suspects Arrested

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of LaKeysha Walters and Sean Coleman on arrest warrants for First Degree Assault, both warrants obtained by County Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in April 2014 and March 2014, respectively.

According to the Walters warrant, Walters assaulted a male victim by stabbing him with a kitchen knife following a dispute at a residence in the 1400 block of Southern Avenue in Oxon Hill, MD. Both Walters’ and the victim were transported to area hospitals and a warrant was subsequently obtained for Walter’s arrest.

Deputies’ investigation led them to believe Walters was at a residence in Oxon Hill. She was found hiding in a bedroom closet under a large pile of clothing. She was taken into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

She is also charged with Reckless Endangerment and Second Degree Assault.

 

The warrant for Sean Coleman states that in March 2014, Coleman and a male relative became involved in a verbal dispute through a closed door when the victim attempted to retrieve personal items from Coleman’s residence. The warrant further states Coleman opened the door and pointed a black handgun at the victim.

After investigation, Deputies located Coleman at a residence in the 4300 block of Suitland, Md. He was taken into custody and transported to CID.

Coleman is also charged with Second Degree Assault.

Warrant Division Deputies Honored at 37th Annual Valor Awards

Upper Marlboro, MD…Sheriff Melvin C. High and the heads of all of the county’s public safety agencies, including the Police Department, Fire/EMS, Homeland Security and the Department of Corrections, joined County Executive Rushern L. Baker to celebrate the 37^th Annual Public Safety Valor Awards Luncheon to recognize members from each agency for exceptional performance and bravery in service. The Valor Awards Luncheon is a program of the Prince George’s County Public Safety Assistance Program.  

 

Recipients from the Office of the Sheriff were Sergeant Frederick Minor, Corporal Michael Flick and Corporal Thomas Russell, each of whom received a Bronze Medal of Valor for their courage and heroic actions during an attempt to serve an arrest warrant that turned violent.

The details of their actions - read during the ceremony – are as follows:  On October 16, 2013, the deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a male defendant in the 8500 block of 14^th Place in Hyattsville Maryland who barricaded himself inside of the residence and armed himself with knives and a hatchet.  He was seen through the windows carrying knives in both hands.  After Pepper Spray was deployed into the residence; the defendant kicked out a window and ran into the back yard.

Sgt. Minor, Cpl. Flick and Cpl. Russell were positioned on the inner perimeter, covering the back and sides of the residence. They immediately realized that the defendant was still wielding knives. Cpl. Flick drew his service weapon and gave loud verbal commands instructing him to drop the knives, but the defendant refused, turned and attempted to flee, but became entangled in heavy brush. Cpl. Russell attempted to subdue the defendant by using his Taser, which proved ineffective because of the heavy brush. The defendant raised a knife above his head and yelled “I’m going to kill you”, while aggressively charging towards the deputies. Sgt. Minor, seeing a partial clearing in the brush between himself and the defendant, deployed his Taser, effectively striking the defendant, causing him to fall to the ground and temporarily immobilizing him, which allowed Cpl. Flick to remove the knife from the defendant’s grasp.

Sgt. Minor, Cpl. Flick and Cpl. Russell, all positioned in the small backyard of the residence, were confronted with a dangerous individual wielding knives and threatening to kill them, but they each remained calm in their attempts to subdue the defendant. The actions and quick thinking of the deputies, even while faced with great personal risk and danger, prevented the defendant from harming himself and others. Their actions resulted in a swift and successful apprehension, earning each deputy the Bronze Medal of Valor.

Sheriff Deputies Arrest Assault Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Timothy Robinson of Hyattsville, MD on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault. The warrant was obtained by Prince George's Sheriff’s Office Deputies on April 7, 2014.

According to the warrant, on April 6, 2014 Robinson allegedly assaulted a female victim, with whom he was romantically involved, by punching her in the head after breaking into her apartment in the 7400 block of Village Green Terrace in Hyattsville, MD. The warrant further states that Robinson became upset with the victim after she told him to leave her apartment. Robinson is also alleged to have punched a minor child when the child attempted to render aid to his mother.

Robinson was located and apprehended at Prince George’s Hospital in Cheverly, MD where he was being treated for self-inflected wounds he sustained while breaking into the victims residence. He was also charged with Assault Second Degree, Child Abuse Second Degree, Theft: Less $1,000.00, and two counts of Malicious Destruction of Property.
