Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Arson Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest last Friday of Francine Elaine Edwards on an arrest warrant for First Degree Arson. According to the warrant, members from the Prince George’s County Fire Department, along with investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office, responded to the 1700 block of Allendale Place, Landover, MD, for the report of a residential fire.

Fire investigators were able to determine that Edwards and a male victim were involved in an argument during a phone conversation, which subsequently lead to Edwards setting the victim’s residence on fire.

On March 27, 2012, members from the Warrant/Fugitive Division, with assistance from the Arlington County Police Department, located and apprehended Edwards at a residence in Arlington, VA.

Edwards is currently awaiting extradition from Arlington, VA, to Prince George’s County, MD, and is charged with First and Second Degree Arson, First Degree Malicious Burning, and Arson Threat.
