Deputies Arrested First-Degree Assault Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Christopher Darrell Denney, on August 30, 2023, on warrants for Attempted First-Degree Assault obtained by The New Carrolton Police Department on August 18, 2023.

According to the Warrant, On August 15, 2023, A New Carrolton Patrol responded to the 7200 block of Good Luck Road, New Carrollton, MD, for a reported assault. Police learned that the victim had a verbal dispute with Denny. Denny became upset and started strangling and throwing the victim to the ground. Denny allegedly entered the victim's vehicle while the victim's child was in the vehicle. The victim yelled multiple times for Denny to stop entering the vehicle because of the child. Denny got into the victims' vehicle and parked the vehicle in an empty spot. Denny got into his own vehicle and fled in an unknown direction. The victim did suffer injuries but refused medical care. Detectives identified Denny as one of the suspects through their investigation.

On August 30, 2023, deputies determined that Christopher Darrell Denney was located at an address in the 7200 Block of Good Luck Road, New Carrollton, MD. Deputies knocked on the door, and a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, Denny was identified, served with the warrant, and safely transported to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections without incident. The New Carrollton Police Department Detectives were notified.

Denny is charged with Assault Second-Degree and Reckless Endangerment.

Deputies Arrest First-Degree Rape Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Miguel C. Owens, on May 8, 2023, on a warrant for First Degree Rape obtained by Laurel Police Department on April 11, 2023.

According to the warrant, on December 14, 2022, Laurel police responded to a call for a sexual assault at gunpoint at Olive Branch Way and Wern Way in Laurel, MD. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who disclosed Owens allegedly forced them to perform sexual acts at gunpoint on serval different occasions. Through their investigation, detectives identified Owens as the suspect. 

On May 8, 2023, deputies determined that Owens could be located at an address in the 6900 Block of Mayfair Road, Laurel, MD. When deputies knocked, a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, Owens was identified, served with the warrant, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident.

Owens is also charged with First-Degree Assault, Second-Degree Assault, and Firearm Use/Felony-Violence Crime.

Lt. Minor and Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff members of the Domestic Violence Intervention Division were excited to participate in the Council Member Eric C. Olson- Town Hall Meeting & Resource Fair “Together Strengthening Our Community,” with Chief Administrative Officer Tara Jackson and New Carrollton Police Chief D. Rice!

 




Sheriff Carr and Lt. Minor joined other Prince George’s County Public Safety Agencies, the Health Department, State’s Attorney, and the local nonprofit Vision Quest II in the Special School Assembly on Gun Violence Prevention at Croom Vocational High School!

 




The Office of the Sheriff was excited to participate in the "AmeriCorps Community Expo - BTO Global Leaders - Hometown Heroes Program." Israel's Promised Land Foundation sponsors this program, and  Chief Assistant Crumb serves as a panelist!

 


Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office Assistant Sheriff Upathambhakul, Captain Fairs, and members of the Domestic Violence Intervention Division and the Special Victim Assistant Unit participated in “Take Back The Night” a celebration of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and is hosted by the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center!

Sheriff’s Civil Division Deputies Recover Firearms, Ammunition, and Stolen Vehicles


Upper Marlboro, MD
… The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division executed a court-ordered warrant of restitution eviction in the 6300 block of Sunvalley Terrace in District Heights, MD., on March 28, 2023, with the assistance of the District Heights Police Department and Prince George’s County Police Department.

During the warrant of restitution eviction, four suspects were inside the residence, and two of the four suspects had open warrants. As the deputies were clearing the house, they discovered three handguns, one extended magazine, multiple ammunition, and two stolen vehicles. District Heights Police Department recovered all three weapons for evidence and impounded both vehicles for further investigation. Suspect 1, Hannah Olivia Brown, is charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle on Highway without a required License and Authorization. Suspect 2 Terry Darnell Card is charged with Theft Scheme $1000 to Under $10,000.   Both suspects were taken into custody, served with the warrants, and safely transported by District Heights Police Department to Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident.

Deputies Arrest First-Degree Arson Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Rhonda Mitchell, on February 3, 2023, on a warrant for First Degree Arson obtained by Bowie Police Department on January 23, 2022.

According to the warrant, on November 17, 2022, police responded to a call for a fire started at a residence in the City of Bowie, MD. Upon arrival, police observed large flames coming from the porch. Officers quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher from their patrol vehicle to put the fire out. The victim ran out from behind the residence and advised that Mitchell allegedly assaulted the victim and started the fire. Police were able to make contact with Mitchell, who was located inside the victim’s residence, attempting to start another fire. Police ordered Mitchell out of the home and took her into custody. Mitchell was transported to a local hospital where she received medical care. Through their investigation, detectives identified Mitchell as the suspect.

On February 3, 2023, deputies determined that Mitchell could be located at an address in the City of Bowie, MD. When deputies knocked, a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, Mitchell was identified, served with the warrant, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident.

Mitchell is also charged with 3 counts of Second-Degree Assault and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.
