Deputies Arrest Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking Suspect

 

Upper Marlboro, MD The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Terrance Davonn Poteat, on May 19, 2022, on a warrant for Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking obtained by county police on April 29, 2022.  

According to the warrant, on February 22, 2022, police responded to the 14600 Block of Old Gunpowder Road in Laurel, MD, for reported trespassing and failure to pay the tow fee. Police learned that Poteat and 3 unknown individuals allegedly came to the towing business and took the vehicle without paying the tow fee. All the individuals fled the scene. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify Poteat as one of the suspects.   

On May 19, 2022, deputies determined that Poteat was located at an address in the 3500 Block of Pearl Drive in Suitland, MD. When deputies knocked, a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, deputies identified Poteat, where he was served the warrant, placed into custody, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident. Prince George’s County Police Detectives were notified.

Brown is also charged with Theft of $100 to $1,500, Unauthorized Removal of Motor Vehicle, and Trespassing: Private Property.

The Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff awarded the 12th Annual Melvin C. High Scholarship Award to four outstanding Prince George’s County High School graduates.

This year's awards ceremony was held virtually via Zoom, with sheriff High, and Chief Asst. Sheriff Darrin Palmer and members of the Executive Command staff in the Sheriff's office participating. The ceremony was hosted by Captain Ecolia Whitmire, Commander of the Community Partnership Section which includes the Melvin C. High Scholarship initiative, the Positive Deputies Assisting Youth (D.A.Y) Middle School Mentoring Program, and the Senior Citizens' Outreach Program.

Deputies Arrest First Degree Assault Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Derrell Marcel Brown, on May 16, 2022, on a warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by county police on April 29, 2022.  

According to the warrant, on April 29, 2022, police responded to the 6800 Block of Atwood Street in District Heights, MD, for a reported shooting. Police learned that Brown had allegedly shot at two victims who he had known before the shooting. Police further learned that both victims safely fled the scene without any injuries. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify Brown as a suspect.   

On May 16, 2022, deputies determined that Brown was located at an address in the 10200 Block of Prince Place in Upper Marlboro, MD. When deputies knocked, a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, deputies identified Brown, where he was served the warrant, placed into custody, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident. Prince George’s County Police Detectives were notified.

Brown is also charged with Assault Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Firearm Use/Felony-Violence Crime, Firearm Possession with/Felony Convict, Regular Firearm: Illegal Possession, Loaded Handgun on Person, Handgun on Person, and Illegal Possession of Ammunition.

Deputies Arrest Attempted First-Degree Rape Suspect

 

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Ronald Chester Pearson, on May 13, 2022, on a warrant for Attempted First Degree Rape obtained by county police on May 2, 2022.  

According to the warrant, on May 2, 2022, police responded to the 2700 Block of Kenton Place in Temple Hills, MD, for a reported sexual assault. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who disclosed Pearson allegedly attempted sexual intercourse and strangled the victim during the physical assault. The victim was able to escape and waited for the police outside. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify Pearson as the suspect.   

On May 13, 2022, deputies determined that Pearson was located at an address in the 2700 Block of Kenton Place in Temple Hills, MD. Deputies knocked on the door and Pearson answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, Pearson was identified, served with the warrant, placed into custody, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident. Prince George’s County Police Detectives were notified.

Pearson is also charged with First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Third-Degree Sex Offense, and Fourth-Degree Sex Offense.
