Deputies Arrested Attempted First-Degree Murder Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MDThe Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Jamar Dwight Johnson, on July 20, 2022, on a warrant for Attempted First-Degree Murder obtained by county police on July 17, 2022.

According to the warrant, on July 10, 2022, police responded to the 1100 block of Kayak Ave., Capitol Heights, MD, for a contact shooting and cutting. Police learned that Johnson, accompanied by an unknown suspect, got into an argument that turned into a physical altercation. Johnson and an unknown suspect were alleged to have fired a gun and stabbed the victim several times. Both fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Through their investigation, detectives identified Johnson as one of the suspects.       

On July 20, 2022, deputies determined that Johnson was located at an address in the 9300 block of 4th Street in Lanham, MD.  Upon arrival, deputies knocked and were permitted into the home where they were able to identify Johnson in the basement. He was then served with the warrant and placed into custody. Johnson was safely transported to detectives at the Prince George’s County Police Department, District 8 without incident.   

Johnson is also charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Assault First-Degree, Assault Second-Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Handgun in Vehicle, Loaded Handgun in Vehicle, and Dangerous Weapon-Intent/Injury.

Deputies Arrest Armed Carjacking Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Rodney Pernell McDow, on July 15, 2022, on a warrant for Armed Carjacking obtained by county police on July 8, 2022.

According to the warrant, on July 7, 2022, the victim responded to a police station to report an Armed Robbery that occurred in the 6000 block of Richmanor Terrace in Upper Marlboro, MD. Police learned that the victim was supposed to purchase shoes from McDow and an unknown suspect. McDow and an unknown suspect allegedly pulled out a weapon and demanded the victim’s property and vehicle. In fear, the victim complied and drove both subjects to their destination. The victim was then ordered to get out of the vehicle in Washington, D.C, and McDow and an unknown suspect fled with the vehicle in an unknown direction. Through their investigation, detectives could identify McDow as the suspect.

On July 15, 2022, deputies determined that McDow was located at an address in the 5800 block of Richmanor Terrace in Upper Marlboro, MD.  Upon arrival, deputies were able to identify McDow, he was then served with the warrant, placed into custody, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident. Prince George’s County Police Detectives were notified.

McDow is also charged with Kidnapping, Carjacking, Assault First Degree, Firearm Use/Felony-Violence Crime, Armed Robbery, Robbery, Assault Second Degree, Theft of $1,500 to under $25,000, Reckless Endangerment, Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking, Unauthorized Removal of Property, Handgun on Person, Handgun in Vehicle, Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle- Rogue and Vagabond, and False Imprisonment.
