Media Release


On the evening of April 18, 2022, the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office received information of an off-duty domestic incident that occurred in Charles County involving a Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Deputy.  As a result of the incident, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office obtained charges for the other involved person in the domestic incident.  On April 19, 2022, that person applied for and received a Protective Order for the involved Deputy.  The Deputy’s law enforcement authority was suspended, and he was placed in an administrative role with pay.

On April 19, 2022, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office also obtained charges against the involved Deputy.   Sergeant Ibin Lateef, who is the Respondent to the Protective Order, was charged with First and Second-Degree Assault as a result of the domestic incident. Sergeant Lateef was served with the warrant by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.  Accordingly, his duty status has been altered to no duty and he has been suspended without pay.  A Protective Order was also issued against the other involved person in the case.

Sergeant Lateef is an eighteen-year veteran of the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office and is assigned to the Bureau of Field Operations.

An administrative investigation is being conducted by the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office. The criminal investigation is being handled by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies Arrest First Degree Assault Suspect

 

Upper Marlboro, MD The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Tyree Devon Borgese on April 4, 2022, on a warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by police on March 30, 2022.

According to the warrant, on March 29th, police responded to the 5000 Block of Tidler Ct, in Glenn Dale, MD, for a reported domestic assault. Officers arrived and spoke with a victim who reported having a physical altercation with Borgese. The victim alleged to being strangled during the assault, and when attempting to flee, Borgese pulled the victim down the stairs causing the victim to lose consciousness. Borgese then fled the scene before police arrived and the victim was treated at a local hospital for injuries. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify Borgese as the suspect.

On April 4th, deputies determined that Borgese could be located at an address in the 2300 Block of Brightseat Rd. in Hyattsville, MD. When deputies knocked, a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, deputies identified Borgese, where he was served the warrant, placed into custody, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD. without incident.

Borgese is also charged with Second Degree Assault, and Malicious Destruction of Property.

Deputies Arrest First Degree Rape Suspect

 

Upper Marlboro, MD…  The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Kristian Daniel Colon-Gomez on April 11, 2022, on a warrant for First Degree Rape obtained by police on April 6, 2022.

According to the warrant, on March 30, 2022, a victim waved down police to report that Colon-Gomez had allegedly sexually assaulted them after leaving a local gas station in Oxon Hill, MD. The victim reported being approached by Colon-Gomez while exiting a store, where he allegedly threatened to harm the victim, ordering them to get into his car. Once the victim was inside, Colon-Gomez began to perform sexual acts without the victim’s consent. The victim escaped, and Colon-Gomez fled the scene, taking the victim's personal property. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify Colon-Gomez as the suspect.

On April 11th, deputies determined that Colon-Gomez could be located at an address in the 7900 Block of Claudia Dr. in Oxon Hill, MD. When deputies knocked, a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, deputies identified Colon-Gomez in an upstairs bedroom. He was served the warrant, placed him into custody, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD. without incident.

Colon-Gomez is also charged with Second Degree Rape, Kidnapping, First Degree Assault, Second-Degree Assault, and Theft of $100 to under $1,500.

Deputies Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect

 

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Nicco Rashaad Young on March 31, 2022, on a warrant for Armed Robbery obtained by county police on March 3, 2022.

According to the warrant, on February 22nd, police responded to a local store in the 7200 Block of Baltimore Ave in College Park, MD, for the report of an Armed Robbery. Police learned that Young had allegedly entered a store with a firearm. Once inside, Young allegedly pointed the firearm at the store clerk and demanded money from the cash register. Young took the money from the register and fled the scene before police arrived. Through their investigation, police were able to identify Young as the suspect.    

On March 31, deputies determined that Young could be located at an address in the 4100 Block of 24th Pl in Temple Hills, MD. Deputies knocked, and a resident answered, allowing them to enter the home. Once inside, Young was identified in a bedroom, where he was served the warrant, placed into custody, and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD without incident.  

Young is also charged with Robbery, Using a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime and Having a Handgun on his Person.
