Arrest of Attempted Murder Suspect Closes Four Open Warrants

Upper Marlboro, MD…  The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest yesterday of Franklin Israel Chavarria on an Attempted First Degree Murder warrant obtained by the Laurel Police Department (LPD) on June 21, 2012. According to the warrant, Chavarria allegedly stabbed a male victim on April 2, 2012, in the 8200 block of Brock Bridge Rd, Laurel, MD.

Warrant deputies were contacted by the LPD to assist in their criminal investigation of Chavarria. Investigators subsequently received information that he was currently living and working in the Richmond, VA. With the assistance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Secret Service, deputies located and apprehended Chavarria at a hotel in the 1500 block of Eastridge Rd, Richmond, VA.

Chavarria was transported to the Henrico County, VA, Detention Center where he is charged as a Fugitive for Prince George’s County, MD, and is awaiting extradition. He is charged with Attempted First and Second Degree Murder, Kidnapping, First and Second Degree Assault, Armed Robbery, Robbery, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure and Theft Under 1,000.

His arrest also closes three additional Prince George’s County warrants for; Second Degree Assault, and two Failure to Appear warrants for Driving Without a License and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
