Deputies Apprehend 1st Degree Murder Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…  The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest yesterday of Luis Carlos Guzman-Ventura on an arrest warrant for First Degree Murder obtained by County Police CID Detectives on December 8, 2012.

According to the warrant, Guzman-Ventura was the gunman in a drive-by shooting, where he shot and killed Eliezer Reyes on December 5, 2012, near the intersection of 23rd Ave. and Sheridan St. in Lewisdale, MD. The warrant also indicates that Guzman-Ventura shot and wounded another male victim during the incident.

Deputies investigating Guzman-Ventura’s whereabouts were led to a residence in the 19000 block of White Fawn Dr. in Petersburg, VA, where they located, and with the assistance of  the Chesterfield County, VA, Police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Prince George’s County Police, apprehended him as he attempted to escape through a rear door.

Guzman-Ventura was transported to the Chesterfield County Police Department – charged as a Fugitive from Prince George’s County, MD. Guzman-Ventura is also charged with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, First and Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
