A Statement from Sheriff High #PGSO

Celebrating Teachers on Teacher Appreciation Day

Upper Marlboro, MD… “Today, on Teacher Appreciation Day and on behalf of the Office of Sheriff and all our members, I want to thank our county’s teachers, and teachers all across the country for the unique and special contribution they make to our children. What teachers do ultimately contributes to the growth and well-being of our county.

I was a science teacher after college and I used those skills with my daughter to encourage her love of learning and coach her in ways that helped her be a good student. I developed a partnership with her teachers and schools, and it was a great way for us to spend time together once I became a police officer.

The Office of the Sheriff has a history of supporting teachers, students and county schools – previously in our high schools and today in 11 county middle schools where our Positive D.A.Y (Deputies Assisting Youth) deputies mentor students through the most challenging years of their development. That partnership has been strengthened by the support of Prince George’s County Schools CEO Kevin Maxwell and by the continuing support of teachers, administrators and parents.”
