‘Operation Broken Heart’ Teams Make 53 Arrests to Close 59 Warrants #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division conducted a warrant operation dubbed “Operation Broken Heart” last week, which began in the late hours of Thursday night February 21st into the early morning hours Friday. The operation concluded with 53 arrests to close 59 warrants, the result of a collective effort from our law enforcement partners Maryland State Police, Prince George’s County Police, Greenbelt City Police, Glenarden Police, Hyattsville City Police, Fairmount Heights Police, Metropolitan Police Department and the Maryland National Capital Park Police Department. The operation was also supported by the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections and Public Safety Communications.

Approximately 200 investigated warrants were identified as top priority for Operation Broken Heart. During the operation, teams attempted service at 196 addresses.


Warrant teams in Prince George’s County made arrests that included seventeen arrests for Second Degree Assault, CDS Possession Not Marijuana, Felony Theft, Second Degree Child Abuse, Driving Under the Influence, Violation of Protection Order, and Impersonating a Police Officer. There was also an arrest for Illegal Firearms Possession by an individual with a felony conviction.

Additional attempts to serve county warrants in the District by the Metropolitan Police Department resulted in 5 arrests – one Second Degree Rape, a First Assault, and three Domestic Violence Second-Degree Assaults. Lt. Keenan Connley, Commander of the Warrants/Fugitive Investigations Section said of the combined effort, “These collaborative operations yield good results every time. These teams provide us with manpower we might not otherwise have to make 53 arrests and close 59 warrants.”
