Deputies Arrest First Degree Assault Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Robert Dariel Smartt on August 26, 2020, on a warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by Montgomery County Police detectives on August 22, 2020.

According to the warrant, on August 22, the Montgomery County Police responded to an address in Silver Spring, MD, for a reported domestic violence call involving a weapon. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim and Smartt had been engaged in an ongoing child custody dispute. Smartt is alleged to have arrived at the victim’s residence, attempting to kick in the door. When the victim looked out the window, Smartt pulled out a gun, pointing it and threatening to shoot while the victim was holding a child. The victim moved away from the window and called 911.

On August 26th, Prince George’s County Sheriff’s deputies received the warrant for Smartt’s arrest and were led to an address in New Carrollton, MD. Upon arrival, Deputies knocked, and a male answered the door and was identified as Smartt. Deputies served him the warrant and placed him into custody. He was transported to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD without incident.    

Smartt is also charged with 2 additional counts of First-Degree Assault and Felony Use of a Firearm.

Sheriff's Deputies Arrest First Degree Assault Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Malcolm Paul Ellis on August 10, 2020, on a warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by The Edmonston Police Department on June 13, 2020.

According to the warrant, on June 13, police responded to the 5000
Block of 46th Ave in Edmonston, MD, for a report of an armed person. Upon arrival police learned that Ellis was involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical, when he is alleged to have pulled out a weapon and began assaulting a victim before fleeing the scene.

On August 10, deputies' investigation led them to an address in the District of Columbia, Washington DC. Upon arrival, Deputies assisted by the Metropolitan Police Department observed Ellis exercising at a local park, where they served him the warrant, placed him into custody, and safely transported him to the Department of Corrections in Washington DC, without incident. Ellis is awaiting extradition to Prince George's County, MD.

Ellis is also charged with Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Possession with A Dangerous Weapon with The Intent of Causing Injury.

Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Suspect - Alleged Second Degree Sex Offense of a Minor


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Rodolfo Ambrosio-Rojas on July 28, 2020 on a warrant for Alleged Second Degree Sex Offense of a Minor obtained by County Police on July 15, 2020.


According to the warrant, on March 10, 2020 a minor victim disclosed that Ambrosio-Rojas had allegedly engaged in sexual acts on several different occasions with them at a residence in Lanham, MD.

On July 28th, deputies' investigation led them to an address in New Carrolton, MD, where they spoke with a resident who allowed them to enter the home. Ambrosio-Rojas was seen coming out of a bedroom. Deputies served him the warrant, placed him into custody and safely transported him to the Prince Georges County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD, without incident.

Ambrosio-Rojas is also charged with 2 counts of Third-Degree Sex Offense, 2 counts of Second-Degree Assault and a Fourth-Degree Sex Offense.

Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Suspect – Alleged Sex Abuse of a Minor


Upper Marlboro, MD The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Juan Lopez-Vasquez on July 28, 2020, on a warrant for Alleged Sex Abuse of a Minor obtained by police on July 23, 2020.

According to the warrant, in July 2019 through May 2020, a minor victim disclosed that on several different occasions, they were allegedly forced by Lopez-Vasquez into having sexual intercourse with him at a home in Langley Park, MD.

On July 28, deputies’ investigation led them to an address in Hyattsville, MD. Deputies knocked, and a resident answered, allowing them to enter. Once inside, deputies identified Lopez-Vasquez, where he was served the warrant, placed into custody and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD without incident.

Lopez-Vasquez is also charged with 2 counts of Second-Degree Rape and 2 Counts of Second-Degree Assault.
