Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff’s
Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Stephen Demetrius Lyles on March
3, 2022, on a warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder obtained by county police
on February 13, 2022.
According
to the warrant, on February 12, 2022, police responded to the 8800 Block of Woodyard
Road in Clinton, MD., for the report of an armed person with a weapon. Police spoke
with the victim who reported having an argument with Lyles while at a business.
Police further learned that during the argument, Lyles allegedly pointed a
firearm and shot at the victim. Lyles fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Through their investigation, Detectives were able to identify Lyles as the
suspect.
On March 3, 2022, deputies determined that Lyles was
located at an address on Beth CT., in Indian Head, MD. Deputies observed a
vehicle that was known to be driven by Lyles, leaving the address. Deputies
conducted a traffic stop, and the vehicle driver was identified as the known
associate of Lyles. Deputies returned to the original address and knocked on
the door. Lyles surrendered peacefully, after approximately an hour and exited
the residence where he was identified and served the warrant. He was placed
into custody and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of
Corrections without incident. Prince George’s County Police Detectives were
notified.
Lyles is also charged
with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, First-Degree Assault, using a Firearm in
the Commission of a Crime, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Carrying
a Handgun on his Person, Carrying a Handgun in Vehicle, Carrying a Loaded Handgun
on his Person, and Carrying a Loaded Handgun in Vehicle.
