Upper Marlboro, MD…Sheriff
Melvin C. High, Chief Assistant Sheriff Darrin Palmer and Lt. Col. Roccapiore
greeted students today as the Office of the Sheriff’s Community Partnership
Section (CPS) started the second of two Deputies Assisting Youth (D.A.Y.) Corps
Summer Camp sessions at Thomas Johnson Middle School yesterday. The camps
include students from the middle schools where Sheriff’s Deputies are assigned during
the school year.
Much
like the first camp, students participate daily in an early morning fitness
routine and group sessions ranging from Bullying, etiquette, proper grooming
and positive self image. Guest Speakers include Chuck Smalley’s eMPAS educational
performance arts group and WKYS 93.9 radio personality Angie Ange.
The
second two week session will also include a tour of the University of Maryland,
Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, Roller Skating, WUSA News Channel 9, the
U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the Martin Luther King Jr. National
Memorial in Washington D.C.
