Upper Marlboro, MD… The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the
arrests of Jeremiah Cornish and Shawn Cowans last Tuesday on related arrest
warrants for First Degree Assault obtained by County District IV Police
Detectives on August 16, 2013.
According
to the warrants, Cornish and Cowans were in the 600 block of Audrey Ln. in Oxon
Hill, MD, on August 9, 2013, when they knocked on the male victim’s front door
and subsequently pointed black handguns at him. Both Cornish and Cowans forced
their way into the residence, handcuffed the suspect and forced him to sit on
the couch. As the suspects walked through the residence, the victim believed he
was being robbed.
Cornish
and Cowans ultimately un-cuffed the victim after walking through the residence,
and advised them that they had two hours to leave the property. The suspects
fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger. No
motive for the assault is indicated.![]() |

Upper
Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office has reported the
arrest of Troy-Jonathan Kent yesterday for Possession of a Concealed Dangerous
Weapon recovered at an entrance screening checkpoint at the Upper Marlboro
Courthouse.
According
to charging documents, Kent entered the Courthouse for a scheduled appointment
with his Probation Officer on a prior conviction. As Kent’s property passed
through the X-ray machines, Sheriff’s Office Security Personnel observed a
weapon in a tote bag. Deputies responded
to the location and subsequently took him into custody.
Upper Marlboro, MD… The Warrant Fugitive Division reported the
arrest of Demiyal Edwards on an arrest warrant for First Degree Burglary
obtained by County Police detectives on July 31, 2013.
According
to the warrant, Edwards climbed into an unsecured window of a residence in the
6900 block of Allentown Rd. in Temple Hills, MD, on June 20, 2013, and stole a
black back pack containing medication and a bank card belonging to the victim,
before fleeing the scene. The warrant also advises that, in a separate
incident, Edwards pried open a basement window of the same residence and stole approximately
$120.00, a driver’s license, and two bank cards belonging to the same victim.
The
kickoff of the VOWS operation on July 14, 2013 was a successful one with 85
arrests to close 104 warrants. “The original results seem to have set a tone
for this operation. The quality of
preparation is critical to success and we are very pleased by the results,”
said Captain Mints, Assistant Bureau Chief of Field Operations and operational
manager of the initiative.
Upper Marlboro, MD…The
Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest last Thursday of Tiffany Williams
on an arrest warrant for Possession of a Firearm in relation to a Drug
Trafficking warrant obtained by County Police Narcotic Enforcement Detectives
(NED) on July 29, 2013.
According
to Charging Documents, in early July, Williams and a girlfriend were involved
in a verbal disagreement that turned physical. During the argument, as the
victim stood alongside a vehicle in which Williams was inside, he allegedly
grabbed ahold of the her shirt collar and without letting go proceeded to place
the car in reverse for approximately four to six feet before switching to forward
drive and fleeing. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to Prince
George’s Hospital Center for treatment and was later released.

the arrest Monday of Dion Owens on an arrest warrant for Possession of a
Firearm in relation to a Drug Trafficking warrant obtained by County Police
Narcotic Enforcement Detectives (NED) on July 29, 2013.
Of 47 graduates, Deputy Windsor received the
Steven F. Gaughan Memorial Award for Academic Achievement for having the
highest Grade Point Average (GPA) in the class. Deputy Hynson graduated with the third highest
overall Marksmanship score.
