Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Fugitive Attempted Murder Suspect (Assisted by Stamford and Weston, CT Police Departments)

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Surveillance Team (FAST) reported the arrest of Jairo Gutierrez-Lopez of Beltsville, MD on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder that was obtained by County Police on July 5, 2014.
                        

According to the warrant, Gutierrez- Lopez is alleged to have assaulted a female victim at a residence in the 11000 block of Cherry Hill Rd in Beltsville, MD. The suspect allegedly stab her several times in the upper and lower body as she attempted to break up a physical altercation between him and another female victim, before he fled the residence.   

On July 6, 2014, after receiving the warrant, the FAST deputies began their investigation, exhausting all leads after 11 days of searching for the suspect. Ultimately, a confidential informant came forward with information that the suspect was in Stamford, CT.


With assistance from the Weston Police Department and the Stamford Police Department, FAST deputies located Gutierrez- Lopez at a home in Weston, CT., where he was found painting in an upstairs bedroom. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to a Weston Police Station for processing. He is awaiting extradition back to Prince George's County, MD. The suspect is also charged with Attempted Murder Second Degree, Assault First Degree, two (2) counts of Assault Second Degree, and Dangerous Weapon with the Intent to Injure.
