Upper Marlboro,
MD…The
Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff’s Child Support Enforcement
Division conducted an overnight warrant sweep on August 6th.
The sweep was comprised of three teams
of Deputies who made 60 attempts to locate individuals with outstanding child
support warrants. The operation resulted in 14 arrests to close 15 warrants,
which represented child support arrearages of over $227,000.00.
According to Lieutenant Joyce Bowers,
Commander of the Child Support Enforcement Division the mini sweep’s success
was made possible because of the assistance received from Deputies of the
Domestic Violence Intervention Division, Civil/ Landlord & Tenant Division
and Warrants and Fugitive Division.
“Child
Support payments are enormously important for the custodial parent to assure
the care and wellbeing of children; nothing is more important.” said Lieutenant
Bowers. “We couldn’t have been more pleased about the arrest of a defendant
with arrearages of over $99,000.00 due in child support. This capture allows
the custodial parent to begin the process of collecting monies to support the
children involved.”
