Attempted 1st Degree Murder Suspect Arrested During Child Support Hearing

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff’s Court Services Division reported the arrest of Damon Palmer of Washington D.C. yesterday for Attempted First Degree Murder after the County Police Department notified Court Services Deputies of the possibility that Palmer could be in a Circuit Court courtroom for a child support case. Upon confirmation of the warrant obtained by County Police on June 20, 2014, Deputies responded to the courtroom where they positively identified Palmer and arrested him.

According to the detective’s narrative in the warrant, on June 16, 2014, Palmer confronted another male in the 4000 block of Murdock Street in Temple Hills, MD and “…accused him of messing with his girlfriend.” The verbal dispute turned physical prior to Palmer leaving the location. The warrant further states, that later that afternoon Palmer returned to the Murdock Street address with a handgun and fired several shots in the victim’s direction as he answered a knock at his door.

“This is simply more evidence that our partnership with other law enforcement partners is critical in the fight against crime. And, the calm and responsive reaction of the courtroom personnel resulted in a safe arrest,” said Lieutenant Colonel Mark Roccapriore, Bureau Chief, Court Services.

Palmer was taken into custody in the courtroom without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections. He is also charged with First Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Attempted Second Degree Murder and First Degree Assault.
