Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests.

        First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Maurice Monroe of Southeast Washington D.C who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Assault-First Degree that was obtained by Prince George’s County Police on February 2^nd, 2015.

According to the warrant, on December 13^th, Monroe was in the 5300 block of Sheriff Road in Fairmont Heights, MD when he grabbed a victim from behind and threw her to the ground where she hit her head, rendering her unconscious. The warrant states that the victim was transported to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a local hospital where she was diagnosed with serious injury to her skull and shoulder. On February 19^th , members of the United States Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force to which a Sheriff’s deputy was assigned located Monroe in Washington D.C where he was taken into custody and transported to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Fifth District Station for processing while awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.

Monroe is also charged with Assault Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment.

1998 First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Manuel Garcia of Hyattsville, MD on an arrest warrant for Assault First Degree that was issued by Prince George’s County Police on November 9^th, 1998. Deputies received updated information on Garcia, made contact with him and convinced him to meet and turn himself in at the Hyattsville Courthouse. Garcia was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (DOC) for processing.

Garcia is also charged with Assault Second Degree, Assault-Reckless Endangerment, and Resisting Arrest.
