According to the warrant, on July 26th,
2007 Diaz was involved in an argument with another man that escalated to the
point of Diaz pulling out a knife and attacking the man. The warrant indicates
that the victim was cut on the arm trying to block the knife from striking his
face and body. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was admitted
in serious condition.
Multiple attempts were made to serve the
warrant before it was reassigned to the FAST’s unit on March 20, 2015. The FAST’s
investigation discovered that Diaz had been using aliases and that he also had
another outstanding warrant under one of them. Further investigation revealed that Diaz had
been deported on more than one occasion and had been denied re-entry into the
United States several times. Records indicate that Diaz had obtained multiple
Maryland driver’s licenses under different names and dates of birth over the
years. After a thorough investigation, following the trail of multiple
identities and driver’s licenses, warrant deputies were able to locate Diaz in
Hyattsville, MD where they took him into custody on March 26th without
incident. He was transported to the
Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (DOC) in Hyattsville, MD for
processing.
Diaz is also charged with Assault Second
Degree and Failure to Appear (FTA) for Failing to Stop after an Accident.
