Second Degree Rape Suspect Extradited
Sheriff’s deputies extradited Rene Bonilla-Chavez to Prince George’s County, MD on February 23, 2016 from the Duval County Detention Center located in Jacksonville, Florida. Bonilla-Chavez, who is from Oxon Hill, Maryland, was wanted on an arrest warrant for Second Degree Rape issued by the District Court of Prince George's County on June 26, 2015.
According to the warrant, on June 22, 2015, Bonilla-Chavez raped a female victim who was a minor, in the 2000 block of Alice Avenue in Oxon Hill, Md. The warrant further states that Bonilla-Chavez picked the victim up from school and took her to his house.
Bonilla-Chavez is also charged with Second and Third Degree Sex Offense, and Second Degree Assault.
Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Danzel Powell of Upper Marlboro, MD, on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery obtained by the County Police on December 30, 2015.
According to the warrant, on December 23, 2015, in the 5000 block of Jackson Street in Hyattsville, MD, Powell and two other suspects approached four female victims while they sat in their vehicle. Powell allegedly pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded their property. In fear for their lives, the women gave their belongings to the suspects who then fled the scene.
After multiple attempts to serve the warrant, on March 3, deputies’ investigation determined that Powell could be located in the 1700 block of Tioga Road in Fort Washington, MD. Deputies went to the residence where Powell was located and he was taken into custody without incident. Powell was transported to the Upper Marlboro Department of Corrections for processing.
Powell is also charged with Robbery, First and Second Degree Assault, and Theft 1,000 to under 10,000.
