Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest First Degree Murder Suspect #PGSO


Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
                                               

First Degree Murder Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Fernando Baires of Silver Spring MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Murder that was obtained by County Police on April 19th, 2016.
According to the warrant, on April 17th Baires, and two other suspects were walking near the 6800 block of Riggs Road in Hyattsville when they became involved in a shooting that sent two victims to the hospital, one of whom was pronounced dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide by gunshot wound. The warrant states that Baires was positively identified as one of the shooters in the incident.

Deputies assigned to the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) investigated the warrant and received notification that Baires was scheduled to appear at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hearing in Baltimore. The deputies attended the hearing and arrested Baires at the conclusion of his hearing. He was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide unit at the District III station.                   
Baires is also charged with Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Firearm use in a Felonious Violent Crime, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Attempted Second Degree Murder.

                                                First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joel Hardin of Suitland MD, on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by County Police on March 23, 2016.

According to the warrant, on March 22, Hardin was in the CVS parking lot in the 8600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Glenarden MD, where he was allegedly shown two pair of tennis shoes valued at approximately $450 dollars. According to the warrant Hardin walked over to a vehicle and got in the front passenger seat, when the victim approached asking about his shoes. Hardin is alleged to have brandished a handgun in the victim’s direction and fled the scene in the vehicle. The victim positively identified Hardin as the person that robbed him.

Upon receiving the warrant on March 25, 2016, Sheriff Deputies assigned to the Fugitive Apprehension Surveillance Team (FAST) located Hardin at a residence in the 6700 block of Halleck Street in District Heights, MD. Hardin was taken into custody without incident and transported to the County Police Department District III station.


Hardin was also charged with Firearm use in a Felonious Violent Crime, Second Degree Assault, Handgun on Person, and Theft less than $1,000.
