Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect Arrested #PGSO

 Sheriff’s Deputies arrested D’Andre Layne, of Laurel, MD on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder obtained by County Police on May 23rd, 2016.

According to the warrant, on May 19th, county police responded to a report of gunshots in the 9200 block of Cherry Lane in Laurel, MD. Upon arrival police met with a victim who had been shot in the hand and another who was suffering lacerations from shattered glass. One victim said that while stopped at a stop sign two people ran across the street and started shooting at them. The warrant further states that a victim recognized one of the shooters as someone from the neighborhood known as “Dre”.

Upon receipt of the warrant, deputies began an investigation that led them to believe that Layne was at a location in Virginia. After reaching Virginia law enforcement, deputies were notified by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office that Layne was in custody. Layne was transported to the local jail and extradited back to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Layne is also charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, Assault First Degree, Assault Second Degree, and Use of an Assault Weapon with a Magazine.

Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Freddie Ruiz, of Hyattsville, MD on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder that was obtained by the County Police on June 14, 2016.

The Warrant states that on June 13th, Ruiz became involved in an argument via phone after which he drove to a residence in Takoma Park, MD where he pointed a gun at the person with whom he’d argued. Ruiz is alleged to have also pointed the gun and fired above the head of another person at the residence who began to argue with him. According to the warrant Ruiz pointed the gun back at the first victim, he then pointed the gun and fired a second shot up in the air and waved the gun back and forth before leaving the scene.

On June 14th, a warrant for Ruiz was received by the Sheriff’s Office and deputies were notified by authorities that he had attempted to purchase a firearm locally the day after the incident. Deputies’ investigation determined that Ruiz could be located in the 2000 block of Hayden Road in Hyattsville, MD. Upon arrival at the location they advised the resident that they had a warrant for Ruiz who was located at the residence. He was placed into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County District I Police Station without incident.

Ruiz is also charged with First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Firearm use in a Felonious Violent Crime.
