Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Frankie Young of Landover MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by the County Police on July 07, 2016.

According to the warrant, on July 07, 2016, Young was engaged in an argument with family members that turned physical at a residence located in the 100 block of College Station in Upper Marlboro, MD. Young allegedly threatened a male victim with a kitchen knife and then proceeded to push a female victim down which caused her to hit her head on the ground. Young fled the scene.

Upon receipt of the warrant, Deputies’ warrant squad along with the Domestic Violence Intervention Unit deputies’ located Young in the 3000 block of 75th Avenue in Landover Md, where she was taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Department of Correction in Hyattsville, MD for processing.

Young is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure.
 
Second Degree Rape Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Tarez White of Hyattsville, MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Second Degree Rape that was obtained by the County Police on July 06, 2016. According to the warrant, White allegedly interacted in unwanted sexual contact with a female victim in the 2000 block of East Marlboro Avenue in Hyattsville, MD. The warrant states that the next morning the victim had no memory of what occurred and lost consciousness due to consuming alcohol that night.

Upon receipt of the warrant, deputies located White at the address of the incident. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Felony Assault against Deputy #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD… On July 24, 2016, at approximately 1:50 a.m., an off-duty Sheriff's Deputy in civilian attire was in the 10500 block of Campus Way South in Largo, MD.  The Deputy was approached by two men.  At least one was armed with a handgun and was wearing a mask. 

That suspect announced a robbery and fired at the Deputy.  The Deputy, who was armed with his duty weapon, returned fire.  The suspects fled and entered a vehicle believed to be driven by another suspect.  There are no known injuries at this time.

The Prince George's County Police Department is investigating the felony assault against the Deputy.  The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs Division will be conducting a concurrent administrative investigation.

The Deputy has been placed on routine administrative leave.  The involved Deputy's information will be provided on Monday, July 25, 2016.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for all areas of the County through Monday, July 25th. Heat Index Values 100-105 are expected, the hottest part of the day will be the afternoon and evening hours. This email contains important emergency recommendations:


What should you do?

Tip: The 'Heat Index' is a measure of how hot weather "feels" to the body.
 
The Office of Emergency Management recommends that outdoor work and activity is limited if possible. Take frequent rests in cool, air-conditioned areas to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Proper hydration is also recommended. Do not leave pets or small children in cars, even if it is only for a minute.

Signs of Illness

The Prince George’s Office of Emergency Management recommends these CDC Guidelines for extreme heat:

Signs of Heat Exhaustion include heavy sweating, weakness, cold/pale/clammy skin, fast/weak pulse, nausea or vomiting, and fainting. If you experience these symptoms, move to a cooler location, lie down and loosen clothing while applying wet cloths to as much of your body as possible, sip water.

A more severe illness, Heat Stroke is caused by high body temperatures (above 103° F) and includes symptoms such as hot, red, dry or moist skin, as well as rapid and strong pulse. If you or someone else experience these symptoms, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY, this is a medical emergency. Move the person to a cooler environment, reduce their body temperature with cool cloths or even a bath.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Armed Robbery Suspect Extradited

Sheriff’s deputies extradited Joshua Mayo to Prince George’s County, MD on July 14, 2016 from the Federal Correction Institute located in Fairton, New Jersey. Mayo, who is from Washington, DC was wanted on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery issued by the District Court of Prince George's County on August 08, 2015.

According to the warrant, on July 19, 2015, in the 2000 block of Oxon Run Drive in Temple Hills, Md., Mayo and two other suspects are alleged to have approached a male victim walking down the street when Mayo exited a vehicle, pointed a handgun at the victim, demanded the victims’ property – with which he complied – and fled the scene.

Mayo is also charged with Robbery, First and Second Degree Assault and Theft less than $1000.

2014 First Degree Arson Suspect Extradited

Sheriff’s deputies extradited Shavonne Burgess to Prince George’s County, MD on July 14, 2016 from the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility located in Philadephia, PA. Burgess, who is from Philadelphia was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Arson issued by the District Court of Prince George's County on October 06, 2014.

According to the warrant, on October 07, 2014, the Prince George’s County Fire Department responded to a nightclub in the 6000 block of Old Branch Avenue in Clinton, Md, Burgess allegedly entered a storage closet in the nightclub carrying three duffle bags but left the building with only two. Video surveillance shows that within minutes of Burgess leaving smoke appeared from the storage closet. The warrant states that Burgess had been denied employment at the club; she was identified by the manager.

Burgess is also charged with Second Degree Arson, and Reckless Endangerment.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

2014 Armed Robbery Suspect Extradited

Sheriff’s deputies extradited Melvin Saunders to Prince George’s County, MD on July 7, 2016 from the Prince William County Detention Center located in Manassas, Virginia. Saunders, who is from Washington D.C, was wanted on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery issued by the District Court of Prince George's County on December 17, 2014.

According to the warrant, on December 07, 2014, Saunders allegedly robbed a 7-11 convenience store, in the 6000 block of Oxon Hill in Oxon Hill, Md. The warrant states that Saunders ran behind the counter, grabbed male victim employee of the store, pointed a handgun, demanded money, and fled the scene.

Saunders is also charged with Robbery, First Degree Assault, Theft less than $1,000, and Firearm Use/Felony Violent Crime.

First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Andre Harris of Lanham, MD, on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by the County Police on May 23, 2016.

According to the warrant, on March 19, in the 8000 block of Lakecrest Drive in Greenbelt, MD, Harris allegedly forced entry into a female victim’s home where he choked her. The warrant states the former couple had arranged an opportunity for Harris to collect some of his belongings, and further states that Harris attacked the victim in the presence of a minor.

On July 5, Deputies located Harris in the 7000 block of Martins Court in Lanham where he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Hyattsville Department of Corrections for processing. Harris is also charged with Second Degree Assault.

#PGSO Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

First Degree Murder Suspect Extradited

Sheriff’s Deputies extradited Rasheed Edwards to Prince George’s County, MD on June 24, 2016, he is from Temple Hills, MD, and was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Murder obtained by the County Police on May 5, 2016.

The warrant states that on May 4th Edwards was in the 7100 block of Temple Hills Road in Temple Hills, MD where he entered a restaurant and ordered food. A short time later three other people entered the restaurant and also placed an order, and while they waited for their food Edwards is alleged to have begun staring at them until one of them asked him if there was a problem. Edwards said there was not a problem, apologized, exited the restaurant and returned seconds later with a handgun and began firing at the victims, fatally wounding one of them.

Deputies traveled to the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus Georgia to transport Edwards to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Edwards is also charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, Assault First Degree, Firearm use in a Felony Violent Crime, Assault Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and Handgun on Person.

Suspect Arrested for CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Stanley Askew of Upper Marlboro, MD on an arrest warrant for CDS possession with the Intent to Distribute that was obtained by the County Police on June 15, 2016.

The Warrant states that on April 12 in the 200 block of Harry S Truman Drive, Prince George’s County Police executed a search and seizure warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, the search warrant also listed to seize all drugs, paraphernalia and documents. According to the warrant the items recovered at the residence were a clear indication of manufacturing controlled dangerous substances and of distribution for monetary gain.

On June 16, a warrant for Askew was received and the deputies’ investigation located Askew in the 1000 block of Caslon Way in Landover, MD. Deputies went to the location and Askew answered the door and granted them peaceful entry, he was advised of the warrant and taken into custody. Askew was transported to the Prince George’s County Regional Processing Unit in Hyattsville without incident.

Askew is also charged with Distribution of Counterfeit CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance), CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics, CDS Production Equipment, and CDS Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
