Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Daquan Robinson, of Suitland, MD on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery obtained by the County Police on December 20th, 2016.

According to the warrant, on December 15th, County Police responded to the 2600 block of Shadyside Avenue in Suitland, MD for a reported citizen armed robbery. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim who stated that he had met two suspects in order to purchase a cell phone. The warrant states that when he started to look at the phone one of the suspects displayed a handgun a stated “show me the money, don’t run or I’ll shoot you”. The warrant further states that a struggle ensued but the victim was able to escape. Police investigative work led them to Robinson’s location.

Upon receipt of the warrant, Sheriff’s Deputies went to Robinson’s address. When Robinson answered their knock, deputies informed him of the warrant. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Robinson is also charged with Robbery, Assault First Degree, and Assault Second Degree.
 
Robbery Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Joseph Rutledge of Hyattsville, MD on an arrest warrant for Robbery that was obtained by the Hyattsville City Police on December 22, 2016.

The Warrant states that on December 12th, a taxi driver was sitting in his car in the 5800 block of 38th Avenue in Hyattsville when he was approached by an unknown man who knocked on his window. When the driver rolled down his window the man is alleged to have punched him in the chest and reach into the taxi and grab the driver’s work-issued radio. The suspect then escaped in another vehicle. The warrant further states that County Police were called to the scene and the taxi supervisor was able to track the radio to Rutledge; the radio was recovered.

On receiving the warrant deputies’ went to the address in the 5800 block of 38th Avenue in Hyattsville, MD. When deputies knocked on the door they were granted entry by a resident. Once inside deputies advised Rutledge that they had a warrant for him. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Rutledge is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Theft less than $1000.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

First Degree Murder Suspect Extradited

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

 Sheriff’s Deputies extradited David Francis back to Prince George’s County on December 13th from South Portland, ME. Francis was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Murder obtained by the County Police on November 29, 2016.

On December 7, 2005, Francis was alleged to have shot and murdered a male victim in the 200 block of Unicorn Place in Capitol Heights, MD. The warrant further did not indicate a motive for the murder.

Deputies picked Francis up from the Cumberland to transport him to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Francis is also charged with Second Degree Murder, First and Second Degree Assault.

Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Briana Arechiga of Bladensburg MD who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder that was obtained by County Police on December 13, 2016.

According to the warrant, on December 10th, Arechiga went to the residence of a male acquaintance in the 4000 block of 55th Ave in Hyattsville, MD hoping to have a conversation. The man initially refused to open his door but did so after several calls from Arechiga. When the man and another female left the home, Arechiga is alleged to have gotten into her vehicle and driven towards the two as they jumped out the way. The warrant further states that Arechiga reversed the vehicle and drove towards the male victim who was standing on the side walk. The warrant also states the man jumped on the hood of the car and held on until Arechiga slammed on brakes. The man lost his grip and Arechiga drove away.

On December 16th 2016, Sheriff Deputies located Arechiga at a residence in the 4000 block of 51th Street, Bladensburg, MD, where they took her into custody without incident and transported her to County Police CID for questioning.

Arechica is also charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, and First and Second Degree Assault.

Police Training Academy Session 130 Graduates Seven Sheriff’s Deputies #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff welcomed seven new deputy graduates from the Prince George’s County Police Training Academy on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Deputy Sheriffs Juan Melendez, Kiyana Graham, Christian Suite, Elio Perdomo, Giovanni Romero, Rhodesia Jones, and Daniel Minchella completed eight rigorous months of the Police Academy basic training during Session 130.

“What an excited time, to welcome well-prepared young men and women to our team. As they start a new chapter in their lives, we are proud and honored to have them as they make further growth within our agency” said Sheriff High.”

Sheriff High joined Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) of Public Safety Mr. Mark Magaw and other public safety agency heads in congratulating the newly sworn graduates for completion of the academy and for their accomplishments during training.

Family and friends joined the graduation ceremony at the Riverdale Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, MD to celebrate their loved ones at the swearing in at which they pledge to protect and serve the citizens of Prince George’s County.

About the Police Training Academy, Sheriff High said, “Our police training academy prepares our recruits for a variety of situations law enforcement faces daily. With additional field training work, I’m certain they are ready – helping people, solving problems, and confronting every situation professionally.

Session 130 of the Police Training Academy graduated a class of 45; the remaining graduates joined the Prince George’s County Police Department or other departments.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Attempted Carjacking Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Khalil Washington of Halethorpe, MD on an arrest warrant for Attempted Armed Carjacking that was obtained by Baltimore County Police on November 14, 2016.

According to the warrant, on November 2, 2016, a male pulled over his vehicle to give Washington and another male a ride in the 3000 block of Songbird Circle in Baltimore, MD. As they drove, Washington is alleged to have pulled out a knife, grabbed the steering wheel, demanded that the driver get out of the vehicle, and stabbed the victim in the hand. During the physical assault, the victim lost control of the vehicle, causing a crash as the two suspects fled the scene.

On December 15, 2016, Sheriff deputies’ went to a residence in the 1100 block of Southview Ave in Oxon Hill, Md where Washington was located, taken into custody without incident and transported to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD for processing.

Washington is also charged with First Degree Assault.
 
First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested John Gray of Baltimore, MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by Baltimore County Police on December 11, 2016.

According to the warrant, on the day the warrant was obtained, Gray and his spouse were engaged in a verbal altercation that turned physical in the 5000 block of Schering Avenue in Baltimore, MD. During the altercation, Gray is alleged to have physically assaulted a female victim and threatened her with an edged weapon. The warrant also states that Gray left the weapon in the residence and fled the scene.

On December 14, 2016, Gray agreed to turn himself in at the Office of the Sheriff Headquarters in Upper Marlboro, Md. Deputies arrested Gary without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (DOC) Upper Marlboro for processing.

Gary is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Dangerous Weapon with intent to injure.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report


Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
  First Degree Assault Subject Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Sheena Brackett, of Alexandria, VA on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by the County Police on December 16, 2016.

The warrant states that on December 15th, Brackett was in the 4400 block of Rena Road in Suitland, MD where she became involved in an argument with another female. During the argument Brackett is alleged to have picked up a 3-inch folding knife and began to swing it while in close proximity of the victim. The warrant states that the victim suffered a laceration to her cheek and neck. As the victim used a blanket to control the bleeding, Brackett fled the scene.

The deputies’ investigation determined that Brackett could be located at an address in the 2200 block of Anvil Lane in Temple Hills, MD. Deputies went to the location and were granted entry by a resident. Brackett was advised by deputies of the warrant, placed into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Police District III where custody was turned over to the detective without incident.

Brackett is also charged with Second Degree Assault.

 First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies Arrested Marquis Smith of Hyattsville, MD on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault that was obtained by the County Police on December 8, 2016.

The Warrant states that on December 6th, Smith was in the 7100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Landover, MD where he entered a fast food restaurant. Smith is alleged to have placed an 8-inch knife to an employee’s ribs and threatened to kill her. According to the warrant Smith repeatedly asked “Who is messing with my folks?” when another employee grabbed Smith and said “let’s go” and the two left the restaurant together.

On December 19th, Deputies went to the 7800 block of Michele Drive in Hyattsville, MD to locate Smith. When the deputies knocked a man matching Smith’s description answered the door. The man was identified as Smith and placed into custody. He was safely transported to the Prince George’s County Police District III without incident.

Smith is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure.\

On-Duty Deputies Take a Detour/Encounter Homicide Scene

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Office of the Sheriff said that two of its deputies came upon a homicide scene on Friday, December 30th at about 10:00 p.m. The deputies were on their way to serve protective orders as a part of their regular shift assignment in the Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Intervention Division (DVID). 

Near White Pearl Place and Pepper Mill Drive, deputies encountered the homicide scene after taking a detour to avoid a street that was blocked by construction. As the deputies turned off the street, they heard shots and witnessed individuals jump into a car which then was driven head-on into one of the deputies’ cruisers.

Deputy Arthur Grinage, a deputy since January 2015, was not injured when his cruiser was struck, however, as he exited his cruiser, he discharged his service weapon, hitting the cruiser door. Grinage has been placed on routine administrative leave pending investigation of the firearms discharge. The deputies are cooperating in the police investigation.
