First Degree Murder Suspect Extradited
Sheriff’s deputies extradited Patrick Stran back to Prince George’s County, MD on June 22, 2017 from the Humboldt County Jail in Eureka California. Stran was wanted on an arrest warrant for First Degree Murder issued on April 7, 2017 by the District Court of Prince George's County.
According to the warrant, on March 25th, in the intersection of Edinburgh Lane and Enfield Court in Laurel, Prince George’s County Public Safety Communications received several 911 calls for the sound of gunshots and an automobile accident. Eye witness accounts indicate that before the car crash, Stran allegedly shot into a vehicle striking a male victim. Further accounts are that the vehicle continued to move forward striking a dumpster, as Stran fled the scene. The warrant further states that the Stran and the victim, who died, had an altercation earlier.
Stran is also charged with Second Degree Murder, First and Second Degree Assault, Handgun on Person and Firearm Use ad Felony Violent and Violent Crime.
Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Shawn Askew of Lanham, MD on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder that was obtained by the County Police on June 14, 2017.
According to the warrant, on June 13, 2017 Askew and a female suspect were in the 9400 block of Annapolis Road in Lanham, MD when they became involved in an altercation with two other females. A female suspect is alleged to have pulled out a pocket knife as the other females got into their vehicle. Askew is alleged to have produced a handgun and shot at the victims’ side back window. The victims pulled off the road and called the police. The warrant indicates that the incident may have been related to an earlier altercation.
Upon receipt of the warrant, on June 28th, Sheriff Deputies located Askew in the 5500 block of Duchaine in Lanham MD. Askew was taken into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
Askew is also charged with Attempted Second Murder, First Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Handgun on Person and Firearm Use and Violent Crime.
