Sheriff’s Deputies Extradite First Degree Assault Suspect from Florida

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the extradition of Cedric Duvert on December 24, 2019, on a First-Degree Assault warrant obtained by County Police detectives on November 19, 2019.

According to the warrant, while at a vehicle repair shop in the 6800 block of Suitland Rd. in Suitland, MD, Duvert demanded that repairs to his vehicle take place at another location and became irate when the victim advised him that he was unable to leave the location at that time. The warrant further states that Duvert walked to a vehicle where he is alleged to have retrieved a handgun and threatened the victim by pointing the handgun at him. The warrant also says that the handgun Duvert held malfunctioned after which he fled the scene.

Sheriff’s Deputies were notified that Duvert had been located and was being held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After Duvert signed a waiver agreeing to be extradited back to Prince George’s County MD to stand trial, deputies served the warrant and took him into custody at the Broward County Main Jail in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Upon returning to Prince George's County with the suspect, deputies released Duvert into the custody of County Police detectives.

In addition to First Degree Assault, Duvert is also charged with Second Degree Assault, Handgun on a Person and Reckless Endangerment.
