Deputy Involved Discharge


Upper Marlboro, MDThe Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff confirmed a weapon discharge by an off-duty deputy sheriff in Bowie, MD in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 12, 2020. The circumstances of the discharge are consistent with the report by the Bowie Police Department (BPD) of three unknown suspects pulling on car door handles in the 14800 block of Dunleigh Drive.

The BPD reported that the third suspect stole a vehicle at the home of the deputy sheriff and fled the scene. Chief Assistant Sheriff Darrin Palmer confirmed that the investigation of the weapons discharge is being conducted by the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD), that the deputy has been placed on routine administrative duty status, and that the name of the deputy will be released on Thursday, February 13th.
