Sheriff's Deputies Arrest First Degree Assault Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Stephon Elroy Morant on July 10, 2020, on a warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by county police on July 9, 2020.

According to the warrant, on July 3rd police responded to an address on Sperry Stream Way in Bowie, MD, for a reported domestic call for service. Upon arrival, police learned that Morant had come to the victim's home unannounced, where he demanded property he believed to be in the victim's car. A physical altercation occurred, in which Morant assaulted the victim, causing severe bodily injuries before fleeing the scene.

On July 10, deputies' investigation led them to an address in the 6800 Block of Walker Mill Rd, in District Heights, MD. Upon arrival, Deputies were invited into the home by a resident, where they identified Morant, served him the warrant, placed him into custody, and safely transported him to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD without incident.
