Warrant Squad/County Police Collaborate to Arrest First Degree Murder Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…  The Warrant/Fugitive Division, in collaboration with detectives in the County Police Cold Case Unit, reported the arrest Friday of Ronald D. Austin of Bowie, MD, for a First Degree Murder warrant dated May 30, 2012. The Prince George’s County Police Homicide Division obtained the warrant for Austin as a result of their investigation of the 2007 Homicide of Eric Girard Jones.

The detective on the case notified warrant deputies investigating Austin’s whereabouts that he was scheduled to appear at the Prince George’s County Courthouse in Upper Marlboro, MD, on Friday, June 1, for a Violation of Probation (V.O.P) hearing. Deputies located and apprehended Austin at the courthouse without incident, where he was interviewed by a County Police detective.

Austin was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections where he is being held on a No Bond status, charged with First Degree Murder.
