Warrant/Fugitive Division Deputies Arrest First Degree Assault Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/ Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Winford Thorne of Hyattsville, MD for First Degree Assault on an arrest warrant obtained by the Prince George’s County Police Department on September 10, 2014.

According to the warrant, on September 7, 2014, Thorne assaulted a female acquaintance at a residence in the 2400 block of Arundel Rd in Mount Rainer, MD following an argument.  Thorne allegedly threw the victim on the bed and strangled her until she lost consciousness.  The victim called 911 for assistance before Throne fled from the residence.

Upon receiving the warrant, Deputies began an investigation into Thorne’s whereabouts. On September 24, 2014, he was located walking in the 6600 block of 23^rd Avenue in Hyattsville, MD.  Thorne was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections, Hyattsville Regional Processing Facility.

Thorne is also charged with Second Degree Assault.
