Upper Marlboro, MD…The Prince
George’s County Office of the Sheriff made 45 arrests to close 49 warrants in a Mother’s Day’s Child Support Enforcement
Division warrant sweep conducted on May 20th and 21st. Sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve 130
warrants during the sweep with four teams of 4-6 deputies. The sweep arrests represent
child support arrears of over $564,000, and also included closure of 7 traffic
and 3 criminal warrants.
According to Captain
Sharon Saunders, Civil Divisions Assistant Chief, Bureau of Field Operations “the
Mother’s Day Child Support Sweep success is made possible because of the
careful planning and execution by the teams and those who supported them. This
was an outstanding effort to capture 45 individuals who owe more than a half
million dollars in back child support. Custodial parents and their children
depend on us to help bring delinquent parents to court to collect child support
payments granted by the court to provide for their children.”
The Child Support Division received
assistance from deputies in the Domestic Violence Intervention Division, Civil/
Landlord & Tenant Division, Internal Affairs Division, Planning and
Research Division, and the Warrants and Fugitive Division.
