Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Armed Carjacking Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael Arrington Jr. of Capitol Heights on an arrest warrant for Armed Carjacking that was obtained by County Police on February 2, 2016.

According to the warrant, on December 11th, 2015 in the 3000 block of Parkway Terrace Drive in Suitland, MD, Arrington and another suspect are alleged to have approached a male victim while he organized items in the trunk of his vehicle with the engine running; they pointed a handgun at him and yelled “Put your hands up.” The frightened victim ran away from his vehicle as Arrington and the other male suspect drove away in the victim’s vehicle.

Deputies were able to locate Arrington at a residence in the 1000 block of Brooks Drive in Capitol Heights, MD, where he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Arrington is also charged with Carjacking, Firearm Use/ Felony Violent Crime, Handgun on Person, First and Second Degree Assault and Theft to 10,000 to 100,000.

First Degree Assault Indictment Suspect Arrested

The Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Philander Thompson on an indictment for First Degree Assault. The indictment was issued by the Circuit Court of Prince George's County on February 11, 2016.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Deputies investigating Thompson whereabouts determined that he was staying at an address in the 4000 block of 4th Street in Southeast DC. On February 25, assisted by United States Marshal Task Force Officers, and Sheriff’s deputies went to the location and were allowed entry by his girlfriend where they found Thompson. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Metropolitan Police Department 7th District station in Washington, DC, for processing and await extradition back to Prince George’s County, Md.

Thompson is also charged with Second Degree Assault, and Dangerous Weapon Openly with Intent Injure.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Derick Johnson of Bladensburg, MD, on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery obtained by the County Police on January 21, 2016.

According to the warrant, on September 20, 2015, in the 5000 block of 60th Ave in Hyattsville, MD, Johnson and another suspect approached a male victim while he walked to his car. Johnson allegedly pointed a gun to the victim’s head, searched through his pockets, and took the victims cell phone after which they fled the scene.

Upon receipt of the warrant, deputies’ investigation determined that Johnson could be located in the 3900 block of Warner Ave in Bladensburg, MD. Deputies went to the residence where Johnson was located and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Hyattsville Department of Corrections for processing.

Johnson is also charged with Theft less than $1000.

Third Degree Sex Offense Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Christian Smith of Lanham, MD on an arrest warrant for Third Degree Sex Offense that was issued by the County Police on February 2, 2016.

According to the warrant, on January 1, 2016 in the 2000 block of Alstead Lane in Bowie, MD, Smith engaged in sexual contact with an underage victim. On February 8, 2016 deputies located Smith in the 9000 block of Good Luck Road in Lanham, MD, where he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Child Support Enforcement Arrest: Parent Owes $170,700 in Child Support #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Office of the Sheriff’s Child Support Enforcement Division reported that Deputies arrested a 42-year old, District Heights, father of five on three arrest warrants dated January 21, 2016. The father was wanted for unpaid court-ordered child support payments in excess of $170,700. One of the three child support cases dates back to 1998.

An investigation by the Child Support Enforcement Division on February 8, 2016, led deputies to a location in District Heights, MD, where the suspect was observed leaving a residence and getting into a vehicle. Deputies followed the suspect and performed a traffic stop after which they verified the suspect’s identity and placed him into custody without incident.

The suspect was transported to the Prince Georges County Department of Corrections for processing where he is being held on a no bond status.

Three PGSO Deputies Graduate Police Training Academy Session 129

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff welcomed three new deputy graduates from the Prince George’s County Police Training Academy on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Deputy Sheriffs LeVern N. Hall, Maria Mejia-Paz, and Keith M. Wooten, all successfully completed eight rigorous months of Police Academy basic training as members of Session 129.

Sheriff High joined County Executive Rushern L. Baker and other public safety agency heads in congratulating the newly sworn graduates for successful completion of the academy and for their accomplishments during training.


Family and friends joined the graduation ceremony at the Riverdale Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, MD to celebrate their loved ones at the swearing in at which they pledge to protect and serve the citizens of Prince George’s County.

“The Police Training Academy graduation is always a special time for me because it’s an opportunity to welcome well-prepared young men and women to our team.” said Sheriff High. These young people will gain enormous experience from senior, experienced deputies while bringing fresh new perspectives to our work.”

About the Police Training Academy, Sheriff High said, “Our training academy is a rigorous and vital first step in their preparedness and they made it so I know they’re ready to serve.” Session 129 of the Police Training Academy graduated a class of 40; the remaining graduates joined the Prince George’s County Police Department.

#PGSO support 20th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park

 
Last Friday, Members of PGSO participated in the 20th Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge in support of Special Olympics MD at Sandy Point State Park, for which we raised over $5,000.
