Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO
Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Antonio Gaitan of Mount Rainer, MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder obtained by Riverdale Park Police Department on April 09, 2016.
According to the warrant, on April 2, 2016, Gaitan allegedly approached an unknown male standing outside of a restaurant in the 5000 block Riverdale Road, MD. He is further alleged to have pulled out an edged weapon, with which he struck the victim in the neck. As the victim bled, Gaitan fled the scene. The warrant states that Gaitan and the victim did not know each other but a witness – the victim’s cousin – said that Gaitan kept staring at the victim while they were in the restaurant. On May 11th, Sheriff Deputies located Gaitan at a residence in the 4000 block of 36th Street, Mount Rainer, MD, where they took him into custody without incident and transported him to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Gaitan is also charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, First and Second Degree Assault, and Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure.
Two Brothers Arrested For First Degree Assault
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jeremy and Shawn Brosh of Berwyn Heights, MD, on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by the Maryland-National Capital Park Police on April 20, 2016.
According to the warrant, in April 15, 2016, the Brosh brothers and another male were engaged in an argument that turned physical at a residential park located in the 7000 block of Sweetbriar Drive in College Park, MD. During the altercation, Shawn Brosh is alleged to have shoved the victim – who knew the brothers - to the ground as both brothers kicked, punched and stuck the victim in the head with a skate broad.On May 4, deputies’ investigation determined that the brothers could be located in the 5000 block of Ruatan Street in Berwyn Heights, MD. Deputies, along with Berwyn Heights Police Department, went to the residence where they were located and taken into custody without incident. They were transported to the Department of Corrections in Hyattsville for processing.
Both are also charged with Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest First Degree Murder Suspect #PGSO
Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
First Degree Murder Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s
Deputies arrested Fernando Baires of Silver Spring MD, who was wanted on an
arrest warrant for First Degree Murder that was
obtained by County Police on April 19th, 2016.
According
to the warrant, on April 17th Baires, and two other suspects were walking
near the 6800 block of Riggs Road in Hyattsville when they became involved in a
shooting that sent two victims to the hospital, one of whom was pronounced
dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a
homicide by gunshot wound. The warrant states that Baires was positively
identified as one of the shooters in the incident.
Deputies
assigned to the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) investigated
the warrant and received notification that Baires was scheduled to appear at an
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hearing in Baltimore. The deputies attended
the hearing and arrested Baires at the conclusion of his hearing. He was placed
into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County
Police Department’s Homicide unit at the District III station.
Baires is also charged with Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second
Degree Assault, Firearm use in a Felonious Violent Crime, Attempted First
Degree Murder, and Attempted Second Degree Murder. First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested
According to the warrant, on March 22, Hardin was in the CVS parking lot in
the 8600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Glenarden MD, where he was allegedly
shown two pair of tennis shoes valued at approximately $450 dollars. According
to the warrant Hardin walked over to a vehicle and got in the front passenger
seat, when the victim approached asking about his shoes. Hardin is alleged to
have brandished a handgun in the victim’s direction and fled the scene in the
vehicle. The victim positively identified Hardin as the person that robbed him.Upon receiving the warrant on March 25, 2016, Sheriff Deputies assigned to the Fugitive Apprehension Surveillance Team (FAST) located Hardin at a residence in the 6700 block of Halleck Street in District Heights, MD. Hardin was taken into custody without incident and transported to the County Police Department District III station.

#PGSO Sheriff Appreciates Citizens’ Caution on Sheriff’s Association Solicitation
Upper Marlboro, MD…Prince George’s County Sheriff Melvin High issued the following statement after his office received several phone calls from residents checking the validity of a solicitation letter they received from the Maryland Sheriffs’ Association (MSA) requesting support for the Association’s activities.
Regarding the solicitation, the Sheriff said the following:
“This is a win-win for my agency because citizens are skeptical and wary of scams. Checking the validity of the solicitation is smart and it’s what we advised citizens to do when the county was plagued by scam callers claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office and demanding that citizens put money on a prepaid card to resolve an open warrant or some other legal matter.
With the help of the media and through our agency electronic and personal outreach, we warned citizens about the methods scam callers used and urged them not to give out personal information or give callers money. This situation is evidence that our outreach was successful and gives me confidence that citizens are less vulnerable to scams.
The Association's letter didn’t come from my office and we never request private donations to fund the performance of our public duties, but I’m delighted to have my office answer a few calls from cautious citizens.”
The Prince George’s Sheriff is a member of the Maryland Sheriff’s Association and provided the following information about the Association:
The Maryland Sheriffs’ Association is a private, non-profit professional association that provides support and services to sheriffs’ offices across the State of Maryland. It offers training to deputy sheriffs, monitors important legislative proposals and provides support services to numerous governmental boards and commissions. It does not receive any funding from the State; it depends on member dues and private donations. Support for the MSA is completely voluntary.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO
Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
Second Degree Rape Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Oliver Hernandez of New Carrolton, MD on a warrant for Second Degree Rape that was issued by the County Police on March 9, 2016.
According to the warrant, on November 2, 2014, while in a home in the 6000 block of 87th Avenue in New Carrolton, MD, Hernandez engaged in sexual contact with an underage victim.
On April 28th, after several attempts, deputies located Hernandez at the residence of which the sexual assault is alleged to have occurred. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
Hernandez is also charged with First and Second Degree Assault and Fourth Degree Sex Offense.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO
Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
Attempted Second Degree Murder Suspect Extradited
Sheriff’s deputies extradited Trevor Alston to Prince George’s County, MD on April 23, 2016 from the Sumpter Regional Jail in Sumpter, SC. Alston, who is from Oxon Hill, MD, was wanted on an arrest warrant for Attempted Second Degree Murder issued by the District Court of Prince George's County on November 26, 2015.
According to the warrant which was issued on the day the event occurred, Alston was at the Intersection of 62nd Avenue and Longfellow Street in Riverdale, MD, where he allegedly was engaged in a domestic dispute. During the altercation, Alston is alleged to have grabbed one woman by the neck and stabbed her multiple times in the chest. The warrant further alleges that Alston stabbed two other victims multiple times about the body while they were attempting to assist the original victim. Alston fled the scene. Two of the victims were transported to the hospital; the other victim sought treatment later.
Alston is also charged with First and Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment.
Attempted Second Degree Murder Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Roderick Snowden of Lanham, MD, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Attempted Second Degree Murder that was obtained by Prince George’s County Police on April 16, 2016.
According to the warrant, on the same day that the warrant was obtained, Snowden and his brother were engaged in an argument that turned into a physical altercation at a residence located in the 9000 block of Good Luck Road in Lanham, MD. Snowden allegedly punched the victim several times until he fell to the ground. During the altercation, the victim retrieved a handgun which Snowden took and fired several shots striking the victims’ leg after which he fled the scene in the victims’ vehicle.
On April 21, 2016, Sheriff Deputies’ located Snowden sitting outside of the residence where the incident occurred. He was positively identified and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
Snowden is also charged with First and Second Degree Assault, Firearm use in a Felonious Violent Crime and Reckless Endangerment.

Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO
Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:
2012 Second Degree Murder Suspect Extradited
Sheriff’s deputies extradited Jose Orellano-Marquez of Laurel, MD, on an arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder obtained by the Laurel Police Department on November 15, 2012.
According to the warrant, on November 15th, 2012, Orellano-Marquez was in the 800 block of Fairlawn Avenue in Laurel, MD where he is alleged to have choked an acquaintance after yelling “I’m going to kill you”. The warrant further states that after losing consciousness the victim fell to the ground. Deputies received information that Orellano-Marquez was being held at the Southampton County Jail in Courtland, VA after being pulled over for speeding. They went to the facility where they took custody of Orellano-Marquez, and transported him without incident to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
Burglary First Degree Suspect Arrested
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kenneth Edwards of Landover, MD on an arrest warrant for First Degree Malicious Burning that was obtained by Office of the Fire Marshall on April 9, 2016.
According to the warrant, on April 9, 2016, Public Safety Communications (PSC) received a report of a vehicle fire in the 7600 block of Muncy Road. When fire emergency personnel arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire they received a different PSC call for a person suffering from burn injuries on Greenleaf Road, less than 500 feet away. The warrant states that when emergency medical personnel went to render aid, the person needing assistance was Edwards who admitted that he had set fire to the vehicle in retaliation for a fight that had occurred earlier that night. On April 15, 2016, deputies went to the address on Greenleaf where a resident granted them entry; they spoke with Edwards who advised them that he had doctor’s appointments related to his burns. Deputies agreed to maintain contact with Edwards while he continued treatment. Edwards provided updates on his medical status and made arrangements to turn himself in on April 27th. He was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
