Attempted Theft Suspect Arrested
According to the warrant, on January
12th, a County Police Detective met with the victim who stated that his former employee
Albert Smith had been stealing funds, approximately $2,400, from the restaurant
where he worked. The victim confronted Smith and he reportedly confessed to the
theft and promised to repay the stolen money. The victim has since been unable
to contact Smith who failed to pay back the stolen money.
Upon receipt of the warrant,
Sheriff’s Deputies investigation led them to an address in the 7700 block of
Swan Terrace in Hyattsville, MD. Deputies on scene were allowed peaceful entry
by a resident and located Smith who was taken into custody without incident and
transported to the Department of Corrections.
Smith is also charged with Theft
Scheme $1,000 to less than $10,000.
First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested
According to the warrant, on
February 27, police responded to the 4300 block of Sheridan Street for an
ongoing neighbor dispute. One officer knocked on the front door of the home while
the other stood in the driveway. The officer in the driveway observed Hymes
driving on Sheridan St. observed that Hymes had seen him. According to the warrant,
Hymes pulled into the driveway and accelerated toward the officer who jumped
over a curb to avoid being struck.
Upon receipt of the warrant,
Sheriff’s Deputies investigation determined that Hymes was still residing in
the 4300 block of Sheridan St. Deputies went to the location and Hymes allowed
them peaceful entry. He was informed of the warrant, was taken into custody
without incident and transported to the Department of Corrections.
Hymes is also charged with Second
Degree Assault.
