Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Assault First Degree Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD…
The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Melvin Pitts on September 17th for a First-Degree Assault warrant obtained by the County Police on September 10th.

 

According to the warrant, sheriff deputies responded to a domestic violence call at a residence on Limerick Way in Hyattsville, MD. On scene, they met with the victim who stated that Pitts – who had left the scene before deputies arrived – had become angry during an argument, damaged her belongings and began striking her with his fist. The injured victim said she was able to run outside and used a neighbor’s phone to call for help. The victim went to the hospital and received treatment for her injuries, which included a broken jaw.  

 

Upon receipt of the warrant, deputies’ investigation led them to an address in the 7000 block of Donnell Place in Suitland, MD.  Pitts was taken into custody without incident and safely transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

 

Pitts is also charged with Second- Degree Assault and Malicious Destruction of Property.
