Deputies Arrest First Degree Assault Suspect

 

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Jamaal Marcelle on April 19, 2021, on a warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by county police on April 8, 2021

According to the warrant, on April 8^th, police responded to the 5800 Block of Eastern Ave in Hyattsville, MD, for a report of a person cut with a knife. Upon arrival, police spoke with a victim who reported working behind the location when Marcelle approached him and began arguing. Marcelle allegedly retrieved a knife, stabbing the victim in the torso. A bystander intervened, causing Marcelle to flee the scene. Detectives were able to identify Marcelle as the suspect through their investigation.

On April 19^th, deputies executed a warrant service at Marcelle’s home in Laurel, MD. Deputies knocked on the door and spoke with a resident, who advised he was not home. Deputies left their contact information with the resident. Moments later, Marcelle called deputies to turn himself in. Once at the designated location, deputies served him the warrant, placed him into custody, and safely transported him to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, MD, without incident.

Marcelle is also charged with Second Degree Assault, Carrying a Deadly Weapon With the Intent to Cause Injury, and Reckless Endangerment.
