Warrant/Fugitive Division Felony Arrest Report #PGSO

Upper Marlboro, MD…The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

First Degree Assault Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Nancy Arriaza, of Riverdale, MD on an arrest warrant for First Degree Assault obtained by the Riverdale Park Police on December 31, 2017.

According to the warrant, on December 29, 2017, police responded to a suicidal female in the 5600 block of Riverdale Road in Riverdale Park, MD where Arriaza allegedly assaulted her child, placing him in danger. The warrant further states that Arriaza was acting erratically and struck her son with a closed fist. Later that day, Arriaza was admitted to Washington Adventist Hospital on an emergency petition.

Upon receipt of the warrant, on January 23, Sheriff’s Deputies located Arriaza in the 5400 block of Kenilworth Terrence in Riverdale MD; she opened the door and allowed them to enter. She was informed of the warrant, taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Nancy Arriaza is also charged with Second Degree Assault and Second Degree Child Abuse.

Second Degree Rape Suspect

Arrested Sheriff’s deputies arrested Carlos Marteniz-Ascencio of Adelphi, MD on a warrant for Second Degree Rape that was obtained by the County Police on September 29, 2016.

According to the warrant, from the timeframe of November 1, 2011 to March 1, 2016 in the 1400 block of University Blvd in Hyattsville, MD, Bryant engaged in unwanted sexual contact with a minor.

On January 23rd, Warrant/Fugitive Division Deputies located Marteniz-Ascencio at that location and was positivity identified by deputies. He was taken into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Marteniz-Ascencio is also charged with Second, Third and Fourth Sex Offense, Second Degree Assault, Indecent Exposure, Sex Abuse Minor and Perverted Practice.

The Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the following felony arrests:

 Attempted Second Degree Murder Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Manuel Saavedra, of Riverdale, MD on an arrest warrant for Attempted Second Degree Murder obtained by the Riverdale Park Police on January 24, 2018.

 
According to the warrant, on October 14, 2017, police responded to the 5500 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale MD where they located a victim lying on the ground bleeding from the head. The victim told the officers that he was assaulted by a man armed with a wooden 2x4 and  had been struck several times in the head and body. The victim had life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Police discovered the incident had been captured on video by the shopping center’s camera and they were able to identify Saavedra as the suspect.

Upon receipt of the warrant, Sheriff’s Deputies’ investigation revealed that Saavedra could be located in the 5500 block of 54^th Avenue in Riverdale, MD. Deputies went to the residence at which Saavedra answered the door; he was informed that there was a warrant for his arrest and taken into custody. He was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident.

Saavedra is also charged with Assault First Degree, Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment.

 Attempted Second Degree Murder Suspect Arrested

Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Oswaldo Argueta-Arias, of District Heights, MD on an arrest warrant for Attempted Second Degree Murder obtained by the County Police on January 13^th, 2018.

The warrant states that on December 3rd, a police detective was contacted regarding an assault victim with head trauma who was being flown to the hospital for treatment. The investigation revealed that the victim was attacked by Argueta-Arias and an unknown male when he left a restaurant. The restaurant’s video surveillance captured the incident and witnesses were able to provide additional information on the suspects.

Deputies’ investigation determined that Argueta-Arias could be located in the 2200 block of Phelps Road in Hyattsville, MD. When deputies knocked, the man who answered the door identified himself as Oswaldo Argueta-Arias. He was advised of the warrant, taken into custody and transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without incident.

Argueta-Arias is also charged with First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure and Concealing a Dangerous Weapon.
