Deputies Arrest Attempted First Degree Murder Suspect


Upper Marlboro, MD… The Office of the Sheriff’s Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Berner Alejandro Cruz-Dubon on January 31,2020 on a warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder obtained by county police on January 22, 2020.

 According to the warrant, on July 26, 2019, police responded to the intersection of University Blvd and Lebanon St. in Hyattsville, MD for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they observed a male who had been shot multiple times lying on the ground. He was transported to the hospital, in critical condition, to receive treatment for his injuries. Detectives through their investigations were able to identify Cruz-Dubon as the shooter.

On January 31, 2020, deputies’ investigation led them to an address in the 8100 Block of 15th Ave. in Hyattsville where deputies knocked and a male who answered the door who identified himself as Cruz-Dubon. He was served the warrant, taken into custody, and safely transported to the Prince Georges County Police Department CID in Hyattsville, MD without incident.

Cruz-Dubon is also charged with Attempt Second Degree Murder, 2 counts of Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Firearm Use of a Felon Violation and handgun on person.
