Special Olympics 2012 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Various law enforcement agencies came together Wednesday, June 6, 2012 to participate in the 2012 Torch Run for the Special Olympics. Following a brief ceremony, three flames were unified into the Flame of Hope. The athletes and participating runners carried the torch from the Hyattsville Justice Center to the American Legion Post 217 in College Park.

Sheriff/CTV/Crime Solvers Launch “Sheriff’s Most Wanted” Program

Upper Marlboro, MD…  The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office announced the launch today of  the Sheriff’s “Most Wanted” Program, in partnership with Prince George’s County Community Television (CTV) and Prince George’s County Crime Solvers.

With a continuing focus on getting the most dangerous offenders off County streets, the first segment of the show is exclusively persons wanted for the commission of felony crimes. “I believe good partnerships increase our potential for success,” said Sheriff High. “Collaborating with Crime Solvers and CTV is symbolic of our collective concern for safety in our communities, and this kind of program expands our reach to locate and capture individuals who are wanted for crimes against our community.”

“There was never a moment’s hesitation among the partners to do this program,” said Sandra F. Peaches, Executive Director of CTV. “This kind of programming epitomizes the core values at the heart of public access television.”

Tim Murphy Jr., Board Chairman for the Prince George’s County Crime Solvers located in County Police Headquarters said, “The partnership with the Sheriff’s “Most Wanted” is a good one for Crime Solvers. This type of outreach helps us to make residents aware that they can help get criminals off the streets anonymously and safely.”

Beginning Friday June 8, at 8:30a.m, the CTV “Most Wanted” schedule is as follows:

Warrant Squad assisted by MPD to Arrest First Degree Burglary Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD… The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest of Simone Harrison yesterday on a First Degree Burglary warrant obtained on January 4, 2012 by Prince George’s County Police (PGPD) District I detectives.

According to the warrant, on November 16, 2011 Harrison is alleged to have forcibly entered an ex- boyfriend’s residence in the 4000 block of Warner Avenue in Landover Hills where she destroyed and took property.


Efforts to locate Harrison led Deputies to the 5400 block of Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington, D.C.  With assistance of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), MPD and Sheriff’s Deputies went to the location and arrested Harrison without incident. She was transported to the D.C. Central Detention Facility where she was charged as a Fugitive from Prince George’s County. District I detectives were notified of the arrest.


In addition to First Degree Burglary, Harrison is also charged with, third and fourth degree burglary, theft less than $1,000 and malicious destruction of property valued in excess of $500.00.

Warrant Squad Arrests Arson/Threat Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD... The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest yesterday of Cameo Whitley on an Arson/Threat warrant obtained by the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department, Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) on May 10, 2012.

According to the warrant, on April 12, 2012, Whitley threatened to set fire to a home in the 6900 block of Adel Street in Capitol Heights after a verbal dispute with another man. In addition, the warrant indicates that Whitley was observed pouring a liquid with an ignitable odor onto the front exterior of the home before fleeing the area.


Whitley was arrested at Sheriff’s headquarters while inquiring about another case. A query made by an on duty deputy identified Whitley’s open warrant and he was taken into custody and transported to the County Detention Center where he is being held on a $5,000.00 bond. The Fire Department Detective was notified of the arrest.


Whitley is also charged with Reckless Endangerment and Attempted First Degree Arson.

Two Warrants Closed in Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…  The Warrant/Fugitive Division reported the arrest yesterday of Shatia Poge for an arrest warrant obtained by Prince George’s County Police District I Detectives on March 22, 2012, for Armed Robbery.

Deputies investigating Poge’s whereabouts were led to the 6900 Block of Kent Town Dr. in Landover, MD, where she was located and apprehended. Following Poge’s arrest, her mother and other individuals on the scene of the arrest attempted to interfere as deputies completed arrest proceedings. Poge’s mother was arrested after she was found to have an open arrest warrant for second degree assault.  

Shatia and Susanne Poge were transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections where Shatia is charged with Armed Robbery, Robbery, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Theft under $1000.00.

Warrant Squad Arrests Attempted Second Degree Murder Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD...The Office of the Sheriff's Warrant Squad arrested Adrian Wilkerson this morning on an Attempted Second Degree Murder warrant obtained on June 1, 2012 by County Police (PGPD) District IV detectives .

According to the warrant, on May 31, 2012, in the 1400 block of Potomac Heights Drive in Fort Washington Wilkerson and another male engaged in a verbal dispute. At some point, Wilkerson is alleged to have pulled a handgun, and firing several shots before and while fleeing the location.

Additional investigative efforts to locate Wilkerson led Deputies to the 900 block of Little Stone Drive in Fort Washington. Wilkerson was found hiding inside the residence; he was taken into custody without incident and transported to District IV detectives.

In addition to Attempted Second Degree Murder, Wilkerson is charged with First and Second Degree Assault, Handgun on Person and Firearm Use in the Commission of a Crime of Violence.

Warrant Squad/County Police Collaborate to Arrest First Degree Murder Suspect

Upper Marlboro, MD…  The Warrant/Fugitive Division, in collaboration with detectives in the County Police Cold Case Unit, reported the arrest Friday of Ronald D. Austin of Bowie, MD, for a First Degree Murder warrant dated May 30, 2012. The Prince George’s County Police Homicide Division obtained the warrant for Austin as a result of their investigation of the 2007 Homicide of Eric Girard Jones.

The detective on the case notified warrant deputies investigating Austin’s whereabouts that he was scheduled to appear at the Prince George’s County Courthouse in Upper Marlboro, MD, on Friday, June 1, for a Violation of Probation (V.O.P) hearing. Deputies located and apprehended Austin at the courthouse without incident, where he was interviewed by a County Police detective.

Austin was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections where he is being held on a No Bond status, charged with First Degree Murder.
